Biblical Womanhood

You are not a victim to your children or husband. If you were meant to tend solely to your needs, God wouldn't have created man a helpmate. (Gen. 2:18) He wouldn't have said be fruitful and multiply the earth. (Gen. 1:28) Caring for your children, placing their needs before your own, is simply being a responsible and good parent. Repeating the tasks of cleaning, diaper changing, cooking, etc., are not burdens to fall victim to, but rather daily acts of service and care for the family God has so graciously blessed you with. When the ultimate godly woman is described in Proverbs 31, is it noted anywhere that she felt anxiety for fulfilling her duties? That she "deserved" a break from her children and husband? That she needed time for "self care?" No, in fact she is described as a woman who looks well to the ways of her household and doesn't eat the bread of idleness. She works willingly with her hands. She is strong and capable. She gives to the needy. She is wise and kind. She is virtuous and praised by her husband and children. Her husbands heart safely trusts in her as she does him good, not evil. (Prov. 31:10-31) Do these scriptures describe modern day women? No, but they should. Today's toxic mom culture is in direct opposition of God's written word. His word is timeless and true. Something else to note, this woman's physical appearance is not once noted in scripture. This woman, a woman so highly praised, is not admonished for her beauty, but for her character. How does she achieve such high character? From her reverence to God! May we, as women, as wives and mothers, strive for biblical womanhood. May we not be overcome with emotions derived from our flesh, but lead by the spirit that dwells in us. (Gal. 5:16-26)
