Unselfish Service to Others

I cannot adequately express my gratitude towards our family, friends, church, community, and even complete strangers. The love you all have shown us has truly been a Christlike love. I know I've given our thanks multiple times before, but still, 9 weeks after Briggs' passing, we are receiving acts of love. Whether it be a gift or donation, a meal, a phone call or message, a visit, an "I'm still praying for you," a warm embrace, a shared scripture or song...we cherish each and every "gift."

Taking the time to bestow upon us such measures of love, is the perfect example for the biblical meaning of "charity." Charity, or love, is an unselfish service to others. The Bible says that "God is love," so to exemplify such is to exemplify an attribute of God himself.

You are being the hands and feet of Jesus. You are allowing God to touch our lives, encourage and strengthen us, just by being a willing vessel and obeying His word. This is biblical love. Not love as the world portrays it, but as scripture tells it.

I not only want to give my abundant thanks to you all, but also encourage everyone to show a little charity/love today and everyday. This can be done through a meal, a quick "praying for you" text, an encouraging phone call, or any act of service. Big or small, I promise your Christlike willingness to serve, in whatever capacity, will make a difference. Remember, servitude is also Kingdom work, and anyone can participate!

"And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity." 1 Cor. 13:13

My Bible's study notes state this, "Faith is the foundation and content of God's message; hope is the attitude and focus; love is action."

Thank you again for putting your love into action.
