Every Scent Tells A Story

I just watched HomeTowns latest episode, and it left me in tears. We visited Laurel, Mississippi in May of last year, and made so many special memories with our Briggs. Perhaps that is why I cried as Erin described her intent for her candle store, “to bring back a memory.” I remember like it was yesterday, standing inside Hand+made on W. Oak Street, looking out the window and seeing Josh standing outside of the now, Scent Library. I was so excited I snapped a picture and sent it to my sister-n-law to confirm my suspicion, that it was in fact, Josh. I said, “they must be renovating that old building.” I honestly had forgotten about it until I saw their episode, “Second Chances.” As Erin talked about “scents that remind you of a place and a time,” tears flooded my eyes as I remembered walking in front of that very building, hand in hand with my little boy, sipping strawberry lemonades from the Hand+made lemonade truck for what would unknowingly be our first and last time. Just 2 months later, my lemonade loving boy went to his Heavenly home, and now I sit, watching HomeTown, reminiscing the sweet, sweet memories of our time in Laurel. I’ve never been so thankful for a scent, or show, that reminded me of “a place and a time.” Every scent truly does have a story. Thank you, Erin. 💛
